Hello & welcome. I am the very proud owner of a business that my clients rate as 5 star. Originally a Qualified Teacher of MFL (French & Spanish), I undertook further training and study with the Open University in Psychology, Education, Inclusion and SEND in order to work primarily with children experiencing Social, Emotional and Behaviour Difficulties, including Mental Health issues within an educational setting. I have over 25 years of experience working with children and more recently Emotional Wellbeing in Education. I am also a DfE-trained Learning Mentor. Previous roles include Assistant Head of SEN, Lead Teacher of PSHEE, Lead Teacher of SEAL and in a variety of settings, including EYFS, KS2,3 & 4, mainstream education, pupil referral units, charities and both in the UK and France.
I HOLD A CURRENT DBS CERTIFICATE AVAILABLE FOR VERIFICATION
As a freelance education consultant, I have had the sheer pleasure of working with a plethora of fellow professionals, children, educational and children’s charities, carers, education providers, looked-after children, parents, young carers and professional artists. I have undertaken short, medium and long term private tuition projects, and very successfully supported many young people in overcoming their barriers to learning, whatever they may be. My facilitation skills have been employed by education providers and charities on short term projects, and my public-speaking abilities were used to host an event funded by the Arts Council to highlight the arts and mental wellbeing across diverse communities. I was asked to create a Pecha Kucha for a talk about my long-standing work with young people and relaxation in schools for an educational charity. I have collaborated with local primary schools to deliver KS2 French sessions and also Y6 SATs preparation sessions.
When I'm not working with clients, I love spending time with my son, Max, who lives in London and is studying Liberal Arts at Kings College. He is currently fortunate enough to be completing a semester abroad with UCLA at their Santa Barbara campus. I am a huge fan of comedy and attend open mic events on the Birmingham stand -up circuit. I love dancing and I do admit to being a 'Strictly Come Dancing' addict! I've even been lucky enough to have lessons from many of the 'Strictly' professionals! To promote balance and wellbeing in my life, I practice Mindful Meditation and Reiki - an alternative, energy-based therapy. I am able to give treatments to my friends and family as I am a fully trained Reiki Therapist (second degree). I love music of all different genres and eras. There is always music playing in Twinkle Towers, most often Radio 6, but generally some house, funk or disco keeps us very happy!
I offer a complimentary one-hour appointment with the student and their family to discuss their requirements and how I can support them. During the meeting, my portfolio of certificates is available to view and you are welcome to take a note of my current DBS Certifictae number for independent verification. After this initial consultation, I give clients time to discuss our meeting before making a decision. I then contact the family to confirm a start date and plan of action.
I offer a wide range of packages and services, based on my areas of experience and expertise. I am always happy to share my own experience and thoughts on education and parenting. I am very proud that I have successfully raised my son alone since his birth and will readily share my own tips on successful single-parenting with those who might benefit from it. Equally I believe that I have extensive experience in navigating the education system in order to choose the right path for your own child, according to their interests, strengths and your life style. I am very happy to share my experience of this and any advice I can give on encouraging and supporting your child to follow a path that gives them passion and fulfilment in life.
Please take a look at the Guest Speaking & Presentations page, via the drop down menu at the top, for further details.
